“I never wanted to be an artist.”

Brigitte Engel has spent her life in the wings of performance venues, from the Olympia to the Paris Opera, where creations are brought to life for a single evening on stage.

Her practice follows the opposite path. She captures what passes and makes it wearable. Each piece becomes both a memory and a tribute, named not only for the image it evokes, but for the ideas and emotions it carries.
